After deliberating for less than two days, jurors have signaled they have reached a verdict in the trial of Michael Jackson's personal physician.
They signaled the verdict just before 11 a.m.. The verdict was read 2 hours later.
The seven-man, five-woman jury deliberated about six hours Friday and about two hours Monday. The panel did not ask any questions or request that any trial testimony be read back.
More than 100 people have gathered outside the Los Angeles County courthouse, eagerly awaiting the verdict to be read in the Conrad Murray trial.
Myra Julliette, 32, traveled from Copenhagen, Denmark, to monitor the trial.
"This is not entertainment, not a circus, not a spectacle," she said. "This is real life. Michael was a real person."
Julliette said she believes Murray is "slam-dunk guilty" and if the jury doesn't reach the same conclusion, "it will be a huge injustice."
"I still hurt that Michael is not here and it's going to hurt me for the rest of my life that Michael is not here," she said.
Michael Jackson's parents, Joe and Katherine, and his brother Jermaine Jackson arrived about 12 p.m. Totally about 15 members of Jackson family was presented in the court room.
As the guilty verdict was read in the trial of Dr. Conrad Murray, cheers erupted among fans waiting for the verdict out in the hallway. A sheriff’s deputy yelled "Quiet!"
Murray remained expressionless. His lead attorney, Ed Chernoff, leaned forward with his lips pursed.
Outside, a crowd of supporters erupted in cheers and chants of "Guilty" and "Justice for Michael."
"Michael Jackson got justice today," said Tina Masters of Long Beach.
Linda Perez, of Silver Lake, said she'd come to the courthouse almost every other day during the trial.
"I had to come," she said. "I love Michael. And I think justice had to be served. Just as it was."
During the verdict announcement the singer’s mother, Katherine, ran a tissue under her gold-rimmed glasses as her son Randy squeezed her shoulders. Jackson’s father, Joe, sat stonefaced.
A judge ordered Dr. Conrad Murray to jail without chances to bail, just a few minutes after a jury found him guilty in the death of Michael Jackson.
Judge Michael Pastor ordered Murray held without bail, citing the seriousness of the crime.
"Dr. Murray's reckless conduct" poses a threat to public safety, he said.
“This is not a crime involving a mistake of judgment,” Pastor said. “This is a crime where the end result was the death of a human being. That factor demonstrates rather dramatically that the public should be protected.”
As soon as the judge ordered Murray remanded, four burly deputies surrounded him and handcuffed him. His mother raised her hand to him and he nodded toward her and his girlfriend, Nicole Alvarez, as he was escorted out a side door to a holding cell.
Candace Juless, 42, ripped off her T-shirt -- bedazzled with the image of Michael Jackson -- and started waving it around, screaming: "Yes! Yes! Justice for Michael! Justice for Michael!"
"Nothing will bring him back, but at least someone will pay for his death," Juless said.
She grabbed Annabel Garcia, 37, in an embrace and started sobbing.
"It's a big comfort knowing someone is going to pay for leaving those children without a father," Garcia said.
The fans also took the time to remember Jackson. Juless called him "magical."
Kiki Stafford, 47, of Tarzana said she believed Jackson was "harshly judged" and "greatly misunderstood."
"He was so alive and did so much for this world and it's hard to let go," Stafford said. " He was a gift and some days I feel we didn't deserve him."
An hour after the verdict there were also a message adding in Michael Jackson's official site coming from John Branca and John McClain, Co-Executors of The Estate of Michael Jackson: "The Estate of Michael Jackson and Michael himself has always believed the jury system works and despite the tragedy that brought about this trial we are in agreement with the jury's verdict. In this case Justice has been served. Michael is missed on a daily basis but his genius and his music will be with us forever. He is "the greatest entertainer that has ever lived"".
Murray is scheduled for sentencing on Nov. 29 and is going to lose his medical license.
